These days, a website isn’t a ‘nice-to-have’ for any ambitious business – it’s a ‘must-have’. However, some small enterprises don’t understand enough about how to market their business online. Therefore, they get very little return on their investment.
So how should you approach your online promotional activity? Unless you or someone in your family has a good grounding in search engine optimization and pushing your name up the search engine rankings, we’d recommend that you approach a web design company to build or revive your website. Because there is so much competition, you should be able to find a reputable firm that will provide what you need for a fixed price.
When you talk to a web designer, make sure that they explain the following key elements:
- An attractive design – you want a professional and uncluttered look that is still able to get your brand, products and services across;
- User-friendly navigation – make sure that your website is easy to negotiate and that there are as few clicks needed as possible to get to the information that your customers want;
- Great content – that means interesting and engaging copy about you and your services, along with news updates and blog posts.
- Search Engine Optimization – there’s no reason to have a beautiful website created if no one can find it during a search. Make sure your web designer includes SEO in their design.
A good web designer will take the time to explain these and other important factors before asking you to commit to a contract. We also suggest networking for recommendations before going ahead.
