The WMBA presented us with great information once again. Two concepts that seemed to reoccur throughout the conference were Value and Worth. Helping potential clients understand the value of your service as a wedding planner is important. Helping you understand your worth is invaluable!
The following is an interview with the very successful Certified Wedding Planner, JoAnn Moore of Mountains and Meadows, Llc, who has increased her value and worth by getting formal training through ACPWC:
- How long have you been in business?
I’ve been putting together large corporate events for 30 years, and have been a wedding planner for over 10 yrs. - What area are you in, and what have you done to stand out as unique in your field?
I’m located in Vale, Colorado, which is in the center of the state. Although I go all over the state, I specialize in destination weddings, particularly in the mountains. In fact, we are known as the Rocky Mountain Wedding Specialists. - What has made your business successful? I have a deep passion for what I do, and my mind is crazy creative! I love it when a bride lets me go outside of the box, and I can get truly creative.
- How has being a Member of ACPWC helped you grow?
Oh my gosh! They taught me SO MUCH. I thought I knew everything, but I was very wrong. They taught me to be a true professional and have been there for me ever since. They are the real deal, and they are great at what they do. It’s nice to have them right there whenever I need them for support and comfort or an ear to bend. They tell it like it is, with no sugar coating. - What tools have been especially helpful to your growth?
They give us a handbook that I call my Bible. It’s my go to book for anything I need to brush up on or any issues I might have. - What advice would you offer other Wedding Consultants or those thinking of getting into the business?
Get the proper professional training is Number One. And 2) Make sure you have the passion by shadowing an ACPWC trained professional several times. This will help you understand what it takes to be a true wedding planner.
Thank you, JoAnn, for your valuable insight.
