Where it all began…

It was 1997, the most challenging year of my life. My father and a really close friend had both waged war against cancer and both lost. I needed a lift and began searching the web for training that would boost both my business endeavors and my dampened spirits. I found the ACPWC, registered for the November class and headed West to Los Gatos, California. I had been a wedding planner for ten years and now it was time to pursue certification.
This single decision resulted in one of the two most major positive impacts on my career to date. From my expert instructor Marcia Coleman-Joyner, I learned a better way to account and charge for my services, how to create a firm contract and in general, how to become a more professional consultant. Her phrase “in your jammies” is one I share with all my students.
I also met Ann Nola, the founder of ACPWC. Through contacting with Ann, I had the privilege of speaking in Beijing, China. This organization reflects Ann’s spirit of helping others succeed. I could write an entire book about this remarkable lady. Both Marcia and Ann have become life-long friends.
The second most major impact on my life I will share with you in class . . .
One of the most fulfilling aspects of being associated with the ACPWC has been the privilege of being one of the instructors. I love my students and enjoying the mutual learning experience that teaching affords. So, when I tell you that I am looking forward to meeting you in class – I mean it!
I will tell ya’ll later what happened after 1997. Stay tuned.
Hope to see you in Texas. I’ll save a seat for you.
